Variety is the Spice of Life.
And the three villages of Shanty Creek—Summit, Cedar River and Schuss—have well-appointed hotel rooms, multiple condominiums, and rental homes offer several options to choose from so that that you can spice up your next Northern Michigan getaway.
Summit Village is the resort’s western most property situated atop Summit Mountain overlooking Lake Bellaire and the slopes of Summit Mountain. This village is remembered as the original Shanty Creek, first opened to the public in 1963.
Its flagship Lakeview Hotel & Conference Center keeps everything under one roof with 183 classically appointed rooms, a full-service restaurant, lounge and bar, over 12,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, indoor and outdoor pools, a 3,000 square foot fitness center and spa, plus lift ticket sales and ski rentals for Summit Mountain, one of the resorts two ski areas.
While the Lakeview Hotel underwent a multimillion dollar renovation in 2007, if you’d prefer something else, Summit Village also offers a variety of lodging options from privately owned homes and condos featuring similar lake views and sunsets.
Once known as The Kingdom of Schuss, Schuss Village remains an iconic Michigan ski resort favorite. Schuss village exudes an alps-inspired European charm with ornamental architecture from a bygone era.
Home to Schuss Mountain’s 43 downhill alpine ski slopes and the Monster Terrain Park, a variety of ski-in/ski-out condos, Ivan’s après-ski restaurant and tavern, the Mountain Creek Club pub (members only), winter getaways are warmed by friendly staff greetings and festive outdoor bonfires. When the snow melts, Schuss Mountain Golf Club traverses the pine forests and glacial carved ridges of Custer township.

Cedar River Village
Shanty Creek’s newest village, Cedar River, serves one of Michigan’s best golf courses and as a ski-in/ski-out option on Schuss’ north face. Built in 1999, the 72 one- and two-bedroom suites of The Lodge at Cedar River plus the 2-, 3-, and 4-bedroom Slopeside and Golfside condos combine 21st century modern with classic northern Michigan rustic feel.
The Lodge includes 8,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, Weiskopf’s Grill and the Cedar River Golf Club’s pro shop. During ski season, the pro shop transforms into the Nordic Center for winter retail and both cross country ski and snowshoe rentals.
