Check-in begins at 5:00PM or as rooms become available thereafter. Individuals arriving early may be accommodated for an early check-in providing the confirmed room type is both clean and vacant at the time of arrival. If arriving early and your confirmed room is not available the resort’s Bell Service will happily secure your luggage.
Check-out is 12:00PM. If a meeting, event or leisure activity will postpone departure past checkout time, the resort’s Bell Service can secure your luggage. Late departure arrangements may be possible. Please call the Front Desk on the day of check out for rates and availability. Guests may use the Fitness Center locker room to change clothes or freshen up.
Guaranteeing Your Reservation
We require a credit card or debit card deposit equal to first night’s lodging to guarantee your reservation. Deposits are applied to the last night of a confirmed stay.
Note: Winter holidays (December 26th – January 2nd) require a second deposit equal to the difference between the first night’s rate and 50% of the total rate for the stay will be due by December 1st.
Debit Card Advisory
We accept use of a debit card for transactions. If a debit card is used, your account will be debited at check-in for the projected total plus taxes and $50 per day for incidentals. These funds will not be available for use from your bank account.
If you check-out earlier than expected or should you pay your charges by other means, any unused amounts will be released. Depending on the processor and your bank’s procedures, it may take up to 10 days to be credited back onto your account.
The Resort is not responsible for any returned check fees associated with your bank account.
Cancellations, Changes, Early Departures
If you need to cancel or change the dates of your reservation please notify Shanty Creek’s Reservation Office no less than 5 days prior to the confirmed arrival date as shown above to avoid any penalties.
- Reservations are NON REFUNDABLE.
- Penalty charges equal to first night’s room rate/package rate.
- A $10 handling fee applies for all cancellations occurring more than 5 days before the above confirmed arrival date.
- Reservations during December 26th – January 2nd require a 14-day cancellation notice.
Specific Lodging Requests
Shanty Creek accepts requests for specific room locations, and bedding types. Every effort to provide the requests will be made by the staff, however, requests are not guaranteed and are subject to availability. Requests can only be confirmed at the time of arrival.
Rates are based on lodging accommodations only. All packages are built custom to our guests’ needs. Guest information will be confirmed at check-in and the rate will be adjusted accordingly.

What are Shanty Creek’s deposit & cancellation policies?
Deposits: The first night’s lodging or package is due at time of booking. The deposit is applied to the last night of the confirmed stay. Holidays (Dec 26- Jan 2) require a 50% deposit; a second deposit for holiday stays equal to the difference between the first night’s rate and 50% of the total rate for the stay will be due by Dec 1.
Cancellations: You will receive a full refund upon five days’ notice of cancellation or change, less a $10 per room handling fee. There will be no refund on less than five days’ notice of cancellation or change. 14 days’ notice of cancellation or change is required for holidays (12/26-1/1). No refund will be given on unused portion of lodging or package stays.
What is Shanty Creek’s smoking policy?
All lodging accommodations and indoor spaces are 100% non-smoking. Smoking is permitted outdoors in designated areas. If this policy is violated, a $250 cleaning charge will be assessed.
What credit cards does Shanty Creek accept?
American Express, Diner’s Club, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa.
Is there wireless Internet on-property?
Yes, virtually all areas within the Resort have broadband, high-speed wireless internet access.
Do you have transportation shuttles or taxi service?
During peak seasons, our shuttles provide complimentary transportation between the three villages of Shanty Creek, as well as to downtown Bellaire. Downtown shuttles depart from the Lakeview Hotel’s Conference Center at the top of the hour from 6pm-11pm.
If you’d prefer door-to-door service, on Friday and Saturday evenings (and holidays), dial 231-533-LIFT to schedule a taxi. Taxi service is available to all residences within the three villages of Shanty Creek, plus downtown Bellaire. Cost is $2/person per ride.
Is there a fitness center at Shanty Creek?
Yes, the resort’s fitness center is located on the lower level of the Conference Center wing inside the Lakeview Hotel. Lodging guests (ages 14 and up) from any of Shanty Creek’s three villages are welcome to access to our Fitness Center, which includes Nautilus equipment, free weights, cardio equipment, dry sauna, steam room, whirlpool, showers, and locker rooms.
What is Shanty Creek’s pet policy?
There are a limited number of pet-friendly units located outside of the hotel. We allow a maximum of two pets for an additional fee of $20/night in our pet-friendly units. Pets must remain on a leash and with you at all times; please clean up after your pet. View our complete pet policy.

If my lodging is at Summit or Cedar River village, can I ski at Schuss Mountain?
Yes, guests lodging in any village can experience all outdoor recreation throughout the resort regardless of where they are lodging. But wait, there’s more. Lodging guests can add discounted recreation (lift tickets or golf rounds) for any of Shanty Creek’s golf courses and Schuss Mountain. That’s the Shanty Creek Advantage.
