At Shanty Creek Resort, golf is played in a variety of weather conditions, including rain. To ensure consistency and fairness for all guests, the following Rain Check Policy applies to all golf courses and all tee times.
RAIN CHECK ELIGIBILITY
All rain checks are valid for one (1) year from the date of issuance and are subject to tee time availability. The original physical rain check must be presented at the time of redemption. Photocopies, photographs, or lost rain checks will not be accepted or replaced. Rain checks must include the date of issuance and the course at which they were issued to be considered valid.
Rain checks will only be issued when play is officially suspended or a golf course is closed by Golf Operations due to:
- Lightning or dangerous weather after a wait of 30+ minutes
- Unsafe course conditions
- Unplayable course conditions per Director of Golf or Director of Agronomy
Rain checks will not be issued for:
- Rain or light showers
- Wet course conditions when the course remains open
- Weather forecasts or expected weather
- Pace of play concerns
- Personal preference to discontinue play
- Voluntary decisions to leave the golf course while play remains open
If the golf course remains open and play has not been suspended by Golf Operations, no rain check will be issued.
RAIN CHECK SCHEDULE
When play is officially suspended or a course is closed by Golf Operations, rain checks will be issued based on the number of holes completed:
1–4 Holes Completed: 18-Hole Rain Check
- 18-hole rain checks issued at Cedar River, Hawk’s Eye, or The Legend may be redeemed at any of the five golf courses.
- 18-hole rain checks issued at Schuss Mountain or Summit may be redeemed only at Schuss Mountain or Summit.
5–13 Holes Completed: 9-Hole Rain Check
- May be redeemed only at Hawk’s Eye, Schuss Mountain, or Summit
14 or More Holes Completed: No Rain Check
AUTHORITY
Golf Operations is solely responsible for determining course playability and rain check eligibility. The determination made by Golf Operations is final. Reservations may assist with rescheduling approved rain checks but may not authorize or deny rain checks independently. Rain checks are nontransferable and have no cash value.
